Access your home media remotely

A remote device needs a reachable server address. A BoxPlayer sign-in does not create a network tunnel to your NAS.

Platforms

All platforms; network access is configured on your NAS, router, or remote-access service.

01Establish local playback first

Confirm browsing and playback at home using the same account and file. Keep a record of the working source configuration.

02Use your configured remote connection

Use an existing VPN or protected HTTPS endpoint. Do not expose SMB directly just for the player. Establish access to the home network or service first.

03Check from an outside network

On a mobile network, confirm the service is reachable before adding its address. High-bitrate playback depends on home upload, remote download, and server performance.

Before you finish

  • Local playback works
  • Remote access is configured
  • The same file is reachable remotely
